Buyer’s Guide: Shining Fates

Shining Fates Buyers Guide

February sees the release of Hidden Fates’ successor: Shining Fates. As expected in the current climate of Pokémon TCG any Shining Fates product is hard to come by. Preorders are currently sold out online and the hype of an English variant of Shiny Star V and the chase shiny Charizard VMAX has led to a spike in demand long before release. In preparation of distributors allocating stock, here’s a guide on what Shining Fates products to purchase when the time comes.

Shining Fates Elite Trainer Box

Available 19 February 2021

Elite Trainer boxes tend to succeed as sealed investment opportunities, especially for sets with no booster box option. Whether you’re wanting to hold on to Shining Fates long-term, open up the 10 packs inside, or display the first Eevee VMAX, this is the ideal Shining Fates product. Preorders are currently sold out online, however if you can find this ETB for its MSRP of £54.99 then it is a must-buy for anyone interested in shiny Pokémon.

Shining Fates Pikachu

Shining Fates Pikachu V Collection Box

Available 19 February 2021

A collection box with everyone’s favourite electric mouse is surely worth a spot on your office shelf. Containing 4 Shining Fates booster packs, a Pikachu V promo card and a Pikachu V jumbo card, this box is perfect for anyone who wants a bit of Pikachu mixed in with their shiny Pokémon. As an avid Pikachu fan, this box is a must for a display piece due to its awesome package art and colour scheme. If Shining Fates is going to be a longterm success, then why not have a nice display box on show whilst you’re watching it appreciate.

Shining Fates Tins (Boltund V, Eldergoss V, Cramorant V)

Available 19 February 2021

The cheapest way to open Shining Fates booster packs. Each tin contains 6 packs and a shiny promo card, making the cost per booster pack at MSRP under £5. If you’re hunting for the rumoured Shiny Charizard VMAX, this is the cheapest route to go down to make sure you can open as many packs needed to capture the chase card.

Shining Fates Premium Dragapult

Shining Fates Premium Collection Box (Dragapult/Crobat) & Mad Party Pin Collection Boxes.

Available 19 February 2021/March 5 2021

Shining Fates should be purchased if you spot it, any product including booster packs will either prove beneficial for sealed collectors or enjoyable for pack openers. Shining Fates has some big shoes to fill with close links to previous sets such as Shining Legends and Hidden Fates and there is high optimism that the success of Shiny Star V can be replicated in the West. The Premium Collection box and Mad Party Pin Collection box have been added to this list purely to emphasise the apparent collectability of this set as a whole.

If Shiny Star V is anything to go by, this could prove to be the biggest TCG set since Hidden Fates and I, for one, can’t wait.
