Over the last couple of weeks, Bandai has entrusted the job of revealing the SCRs of the Cross Spirits set to popular content creators in the community. These include Johku DMD, Evan U7, Cross World TCG, EspiraTCG, London Players Guild and Hayden “TheEgman” Kaustinen. Now that the final cards have been revealed, we will take a look at and discuss each of these incredible SCRs coming to the DBS CG.
Super 17, Sibling Absorbed
‘Super 17, Sibling Absorbed’ was the first SCR to be revealed. This yellow Super 17 card will inject a lot of support for yellow Android decks, especially with the other yellow cards that have already been revealed in the Cross Spirits set, such as the ‘Hell Fighter’ and ‘Super 17’ cards. This card packs a serious punch, having 40000 Power at just 8 cost and also having Ultimate, Deflect and Critical keyword skills. This card is a Counter:Play, which is quite fitting for yellow energy cards. The counter skill lets you put an opponent’s Battle Card in rest mode beneath this card, ultimately absorbing them like in the anime series. This card can also reduce its cost by 7 if your opponent has 3 or more energy left. This means that you could play a 1 cost Ultimate card – something unheard of in the current DBS CG.
This form of Super 17 originally came from the Dragon Ball Heroes game, which starred in a promotional video for one of the missions. This card is incredibly powerful and definitely sets the tone for Cross Spirits. The Foiling of this card will be the new gold hexagon style, which we will see throughout the Cross Spirits SCRs.
SS Son Goku & Frieza, Miraculous Conclusion
Although the Tournament of Power arc saw some epic moments, like Goku unlocking Ultra Instinct, it was when two foes fought back to back for the greater good that has arguably become the most iconic moment of the entire series. This card can be played for 5 energy if you have 5 mono-red energy cards. It is also protected from your opponent’s skills, Counters and Blockers. In short, this Cross Spirits SCR is a tank. Having Dual Attack and Ultimate is the cherry on the top, making it incredibly difficult for your opponent to stop you from taking the win once ‘SS Son Goku & Frieza, Miraculous Conclusion’ arrives on the field. Finally, if your opponent is already on 1 life, you can remove this card to deal 1 damage instantly and take the win.
This card has the potential of becoming one of the most sought after cards in the game for its artwork alone. If we look at ‘Son Goku, The Awakened Power’, which is regarded as one of the rarest cards in the entire DBS CG, a large portion of its popularity is rooted in the character and the legendary moment it depicts.
Majin Buu, Kibito Kai Absorbed
Just like ‘SS Son Goku & Frieza, Miraculous Conclusion’, this card will have Ultimate and Double Strike when it is played. With ‘Majin Buu, Kibito Kai Absorbed’, however, it has an incredible Spirit Boost 2 skill that allows you to take control of your opponent’s Unison Card. This card can be played for just 2 green energy during a Battle, as well as stopping your opponent from attacking with Battle Cards for the rest of the turn. This card can also be evolved for 3 energy when using Kibito Kai, which seems to be more of a head nod to the franchise law and the character’s story, rather than being designed with a specific synergy in mind.
The Cross Spirits booster set will release on August 13th. If you would like to take a closer look at some of the other cards coming with this booster, head over to one of our articles below –
