Digimon Card Game – 2nd Anniversary Set

It’s hard to believe that the Digimon Card Game is almost 2 years old. To celebrate its second birthday, Bandai are releasing the special 2nd Anniversary Set. While brand new cards will be included, this product will also pay homage to the early days of the Digimon Card Game by including gold foil reprints of several Special Booster 1.0 alternate arts and the promo cards that came with the Promotion Pack Ver 0.0.

The 2nd Anniversary Set will be a Premium Bandai exclusive and will cost $100. With this being a store exclusive, it may mean that it will be harder to source in other regions outside of the places Premium Bandai ships to. This could lead to inflated prices for collectors, in the same way that the Tamer’s Evolution Box saw scalping in the first months of 2021.

2nd Anniversary Set

The 2nd Anniversary Set will include 14 gold foil cards of Special Booster 1.0 and  Promotion Pack Ver 0.0 cards. This includes the alternate art Omnimon, which was the main chase card of the first ever set. The gold foiling is very similar to the hyper rare Gold rares coming with BT11 Dimensional Phase. Including the Promotion Pack Ver 0.0 cards is a fitting choice for this special anniversary set, as these were the very first cards of the Digimon Card Game.

This set will also include 8 alt art cards from the Digimon Frontier 20th Memorial Set in Japan, which is yet to release. The play mat that is also included will feature the artwork of the standard Omnimon and MetalGarurumon cards from Special Booster 1.0, as well as the WarGreymon artwork from the first Starter Deck, Gaia Red.

The card sleeves, that will come with the Japanese 25th Anniversary Card Sleeve Set, will also come with the 2nd Anniversary Set. These focus on the early V-Pet handheld games that started the Digimon franchise off back in 1997. The storage box of the set is the same design as the one coming with the Digimon Frontier 20th Memorial Set.

You can preorder the 2nd Anniversary Set now on the Premium Bandai website until October 19th. The product will start shipping in March 2023. Make sure you follow Ludkins Media on Instagram and Facebook to keep up to date with all of the latest updates for the Digimon Card Game.
