The first information about the next set in the Japanese Digimon Card Game, which will eventually arrive in the English version of the game, has been shared. In the reveal, made on the Fun Digica YouTube channel, we get our first glimpse of the pack art and the first cards of the Xros Encounter set, which gives a fantastic insight into the theme of the latest booster.
BT10 Xros Encounter will focus on the Digimon Fusion anime series which ran from 2010 to 2012. In the revealed pack art, we see Shoutmon X4. This artwork will no doubt appear in the set as an SR or SEC, which means it is highly likely that Superstarmon will also make an appearance. So far, Shoutmon, Kudou Taiki, Ballistamon, Dorulumon and Starmon have been revealed, who are all main protagonists of the Digimon Fusion series.
Card Reveals –
BT10 Xros Encounter will also introduce new rules which will allow players to place specified cards from their hand or battle area into evolution sources to reduce the play cost of a Digimon. For example, with Shoutmon X4, it states ‘Digi Xros -2 [Shoutmon] x [Balistamon] x [Dorurumon] x [Starmons]’. This means that for each of these cards that are placed into the evolution source, the play cost is reduced by 2. If all four are placed, then the play cost is reduced by 8.
The Xros Encounter set will release in May for the Japanese Digimon Card Game and later in the year for the English version. Before then, however, the New Awakening booster will release, injecting dual colours, new Keyword Effects and new Digivolution forms into the TCG.
