Over the last couple of months, we have been getting reveals for the upcoming EX3 booster set. While most of the cards are now known, we now have the very first alternate art revealed for EX3 Draconic Roar, which is incredibly fitting for this Dragon-themed set.
Chaosdramon will be the feature Digimon of the EX3 booster, appearing on the box and booster pack artwork. This art comes from the standard SR created by Tonamikanji, which shows the machine Digimon reaching out for its prey. The alternate art version coming with Draconic Roar has been illustrated by renowned Digimon artist Naochika Morishita, who is known for his detailed lifelike pieces.
It seems that Bandai is a big fan of Naochika Morishita’s incredibly real and smooth style of illustrations, trusting him with the art of many SECs of their sets. Some of his best work came with the Great legend SEC cards, which all connect together to make one epic image. One of his first SEC alternate arts was the MetalGreymon that came with Special Release Booster 1.0, which is in the same style as the new Chaosdramon alt art.
Chaosdromon is a fitting choice to front this booster, as he was introduced into the franchise within the Pendulum virtual pets series with the similarly named ‘Dragon’s Roar’. This Pendulum let Tamers raise their Gigimon and introduced DNA digivolutions to the handheld devices for the first time.
EX3 Draconic Roar will release in Japan on July 29th, with the English release following on November 11th. This set will inject several debuting Digimon and new deck archetypes, such as the ‘Trial of the Four Great Dragons’ and the dual Guilmon cards, just to name a few.
