Digimon TCG – Great Legend Rares

It’s not long now until the Great legend booster hits the English version of the Digimon TCG today, June 11th. We have previously covered all of the Secret Rares, Super Rares and Alternate Art cards coming with this set, but in this article, we share our favourite Rare cards coming with the third Digimon TCG set.

ShineGreymon

The Rare ShineGreymon coming with the Great Legend booster has a lot going on in the art, making it look seriously cool. Being able to play this card in both Red and Yellow decks makes this card very versatile, and being able to gain ‘+1 Security Attack’ for every suspended Tamer is a very nice effect, especially if used with ‘ShineGreymon BT2-041’ who can suspend all Tamers.

Chaosmon

We covered the alternate art version of this card in our previous article. This card not only has the ‘Piercing’ effect but also allows it to unsuspend itself when digivolving, which will enable it to attack again.

BanchoLeomon

If BanchoLeomon looks familiar, that is because his head is on the sword arm of Chaosmon. When this card is deleted, you can suspend 2 of your opponent’s Digimon, which would open them up for an attack by one of your other Digimon.

Darkdramon

Darkdramon is one of the first Digimon to introduce the ‘Rush’ keyword into the Digimon TCG. Rush allows a player to attack with the Digimon as soon as it comes into play, which prevents you from having to wait. The artwork for Darkdramon is very well done, with the shine effect on its armour really adding to the depth.

Ghostmon

The artwork of Ghostmon is undoubtedly inspired by Tim Burton and the creepy aesthetics of his Nightmare Before Christmas movie. When this card is trashed as part of a ‘Digi-Burst’ effect, it goes straight back to your hand so it can be used again. If you would like to learn more about ‘Digi-Burst’, head over to our article here.

Cerberusmon: Werewolf Mode

Cerberusmon: Werewolf Mode is another ‘Rush’ card coming to the Digimon TCG with the Great Legend booster. The effect of this card allows you to gain 9 Memory but does require you to sacrifice one of your other Cerberusmon cards on the field.

Blinding Ray

Blinding Ray is another card that requires a sacrifice. If you choose to trash one of your Security cards, you can gain 2 Memory. With this being a yellow card, however, you could use ‘Recovery’ keyword cards, like Seraphimon, to replenish your security pile.

Hell’s Gate

Not only does this card have a pretty cool and menacing name, but it also has a powerful effect for a 6-cost Option card. Hell’s Gate deletes any of your opponent’s level 6 or higher Digimon cards in play. This card is perfect when used with Plutomon, which plays any 6-cost Option card for free when digivolving.

These are just some of our favourite Rares that will be included in the Digimon TCG: Great legend booster set. If you would like to check out the entire card list, head over to the  official Digimon TCG website
