Digimon Xros Encounter – Our Top Picks

The latest booster in the Digimon Card Game, Xros Encounter, releases tomorrow (May 27th) in Japan. This set will continue to inject new mechanics and archetypes into the game which will keep things fresh and competitive play exciting. In this article, we share our favourite cards of the set that will no doubt be sought after by collectors and players alike.

Jesmon GX

One of the secret rares coming with the Xros Encounter booster will be the Royal Knight Jesmon GX. Alongside the release of the English version of Xros Encounter in October, fans of this Digimon will also be able to get their hands on the ST12 – Jesmon Starter Deck

Xros Encounter

Shoutmon & Shoutmon King Version

We can’t have a booster based on the Fusion (Xros Wars) series without including one of the lead Digimon Shoutmon. In the anime, Shoutmon’s goal is to become king of the Digital World so that he can bring it back to its former glory – a mission he succeeds in as seen in the Shoutmon King Version card.

Xros Encounter

Omnimon X- Antibody & Omnimon X- Antibody alt art

When it comes to Bandai, there is no such thing as too many Omnimon variations. In this latest booster, Omnimon X-Antibody will enter the Digimon Card Game, sporting some seriously impressive artwork created by popular artists Sasasi and As’Maria.

Xros Encounter

Christopher Aonuma & Greymon

The Xros Encounter Greymon is completely different to the one we all know from the original series, this time being the blue variation from Digimon Fusion (Xros Wars) series. In the anime, Greymon is incredibly loyal to its Tamer, Christopher Aonuma.

Xros Encounter

Sakuyamon : Maid Mode

A new Renamon archetype will be included in the Xros Encounter booster, which will focus on the use of ‘Plugin’ Option cards, such as Strength Plug-in O and Defensive Plug-in C, also coming with this booster. The strongest Digivolution for this chain will be elegant looking Sakuyamon : Maid Mode.

Gold Alphamon

Last year’s incredibly rare Ghost Omnimon is getting some company as Gold Alphamon arrives with the Xros Encounter set. This time around, the artwork will have the outline of the Digimon covered in gold foil which will contrast against its black background. Because of the incredible rarity of this card, this card will bo doubt be the most valuable of the set. when Double Diamond was first released late last year, it was selling for between $1200 and $1600. Will Gold Alphamon achieve the same initial value?

Xros Encounter

While Japan will get this set on Friday, the English version of the game will have to wait until October 14th. Xros Encounter will be the 10th main set in the Digimon Card Game and will focus on the Digimon Fusion (Xros Wars). Not only will several Digimon make their debut for the first time, but the brand new DigiXros (fusion) mechanic will shake things up in play.
