The pre-release period for the Double Diamond booster begins today. Although we have covered a number of cards coming with this newest set in the English version of the Digimon TCG, in today’s article, we will take a closer look at the Box-Toppers and the special 1st-anniversary cards coming with booster boxes.
Box Toppers –
Each booster box of Double Diamond will come with a parallel design Box Topper card. There are six to collect in total, with each one being an alternate art version of the Digi-Eggs included in the set. Although the Digimon image remains the same, the backgrounds have been swapped out for a new prism design, with the text box faded out.
1-Year Anniversary Promo Pack –
For Double Diamond, Bandai have decided to add an extra booster pack to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Digimon TCG in Japan. This set will contain 10 cards, all of which are alternate arts voted for by fans of the game.
Our top picks –
The artwork of this Veemon is very symbolic for the Double Diamond series, as the Digimon companions from Adventure 2.0 are breaking out into the foreground. The Jamming effect on this card is nice for some early strikes on your opponent’s security, but unfortunately, doesn’t have an Inherited effect to bring over to its stronger forms.
Looking like he could take Optimus Prime in a head to head fight, this new alt art for MegaGargomon looks gigantic from this angle. The appearance of MegaGargomon doesn’t get much love from fans of the Digimon series, but the design of this card does go a long way in rectifying this view.
A fantastic card deserves fantastic artwork, and that is certainly the case with this Devimon card completed by Koki. Every inch of this card has impressive visuals, from the illustration of the evil Digimon to the shading and watercolours of the clouds above him. Having Retaliation, and giving its Digivolutions the Inherited effect, will make your opponent think twice about attacking it.

Double Diamond Dash Packs –
Those who buy 12 packs of Double Diamond will receive a Dash Pack containing one of six holo cards. These cards will be released in English first, which will make a nice change from the Japanese version of the game getting them first.
The Double Diamond booster will release on October 15th in most regions and will include the elusive Omnimon Parallel (or Ghost Omnimon as many are calling it). The pull rate of this card is believed to be a 1 in 36 booster box chance, making this card the rarest Digimon TCG card to date.
