FFTCG: Emissaries of Light first glimpse – Byblos & Tidus

On April 15th, the next booster set in the FFTCG will release. Emissaries of Light will continue the Crystal mechanic that was introduced in Opus XIV. This set will once again rally the protagonists of main and spin-off Final Fantasy titles, allowing players to reinforce their decks with their favourite characters. Following the reveal of Luso, Aerith and some other cards a few weeks ago, we now have two more Emissaries of Light cards.

Byblos –

This Byblos card will be a welcomed addition to discard decks, especially with a Gogo (15-028H) that can copy Byblos ability to turn into a Forward, which means you get an extra copy of the discard when attacking Auto Ability. The illustration used for Byblos comes from Yoshitaka Amano, who is an incredibly accomplished artist whose career spans seven decades, beginning with his work on the anime adaptation of Speed Racer in the late 60s. Amano’s iconic artwork is reminiscent of the 1930s Art-Deco style. The artwork of the cards look like concept drawings with overlapping messy lines, with parts of the character filled in with watercolour while leaving the background completely blank.

 Emissaries of Light Tidus

Tidus –

Fans of Final Fantasy X, who remember the opening scene where Tidus is playing Blitzball, will be happy to see this card art coming to the Emissaries of Light set. We’ve seen several Tidus cards throughout the game, but  Kumiko Koike has done an exceptional job at creating this beautiful artwork. This card has a fantastic draw mechanic as well as a way to send one of your opponent’s Forwards to the bottom of their deck when this card is targeted by a Summons or Ability.

 Emissaries of Light Tidus

On April 8th, a week before the release of the Emissaries of Light Booster Box on April 15th, fans will get the chance to acquire the pre-release kit for this set. This will include Nine Emissaries of Light Booster Packs, an exclusive pre-release promo card and exclusive pre-release sleeves. If you would like to get involved with this, get in contact with your local game stores.
