Late last night, Square Enix released a surprise update for an upcoming booster set arriving in November, Resurgence of Power, as well as the Noctis vs Ardyn starter set. Although these products are still under development, we have finally got our first glimpse of these brand new products and some of the artwork that will feature.
Noctis VS Ardyn Starter Set
The upcoming Noctis VS Ardyn Starter Set, releasing on October 28th, will focus on Final Fantasy XV and will include two 50-card preconstructed decks. These sets are designed so that new and old players can jump straight into a game with two well-balanced decks. The Noctis deck is themed around Wind and Earth, while Ardyn, the villain of Final Fantasy XV, has Fire and Lightning at his disposal.

Each of the starter decks include five different kinds of starter cards, each having three copies of each. This means that the set will have a total of 30 Starter cards between both preconstructed decks. Although Square Enix hasnt shared any of the card texts or mechanics of these decks, we do have some card art reveals including the Noctis and Ardyn cards which will have three copies of each, one of which being a Premium Full Art foil.

Before the release of this starter set, fans will be able to get their hands on the Golbez Vs. Cecil set. The first deck in this set is Fire/Earth and is based on Golbez and his manipulated minions. The other focuses on the paladin Cecil within a Lightning/Water deck.15 extra cards will be included with each deck, allowing players to customise the decks and make them their own.

Resurgence of Power Booster Set
Square Enix intends for Resurgence of Power to be one of the most collectable sets we have seen in the last couple of years. To achieve this, they are including special Final Fantasy VII 25th anniversary parallel versions of Aerith (8-049L), Sephiroth (11-130L), and Cloud (11-136S) as Full Art cards. All of these parallel cards will be illustrated by legendary Final Fantasy artist Yoshitaka Amano. If you would like to check out more of Amano’s work, head over to our article here.

To keep the celebration of the 25th anniversary in full swing, a very special Full Art Foil Yuffie (18-050L) will also be included which will have the signature of Tetsuya Nomura on it. This will be the first of a new type of rare, which will no doubt become one of the most sought after cards in the entire game. Signature cards have done very well in other TCGs, such as the Dragon Ball Super CG – could we see more of these cards entering the FFTCG in 2023? What characters, signed by their designers, would you most like to see? Let us know in the original social media post of this article.

Before the release of Resurgence of Power booster, hitting shelves on November 25th, fans will get their hands on the Rebellion’s Call set releasing on August 5th. This set will include characters from the Japanese mobile game Before Crisis – Final Fantasy VII. Legacy cards will feature in this set, with popular cards getting premium full-art versions.

The updates about the Resurgence of Power booster set and Noctis vs Ardyn starter set come just days before the release of the Emissaries of Light booster on April 15th. If you would like to learn more about the first set of 2022, check out our links below –
