Final Takumi Wada artwork revealed for Online Illustration Exhibition

The third and final Pokemon TCG artwork illustrated by esteemed Nintendo artist Takumi Wada has been revealed. The first two pieces were Zacian and Gardevoir, with the final one showing his depiction of Dragonite gliding through the clouds. The three pieces of artwork were commissioned for the Online Illustration Exhibition, although there are no plans to have them printed as official cards anytime soon.

This commission was the first time Takumi Wada illustrated for the Pokemon franchise, previously working on Nintendo titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild, as well as Mario Kart 7 and 8. Although these cards won’t be printed for the Pokemon TCG, the addition to the Online Illustration Exhibition will no doubt be appreciated by fans who enjoy seeing the game’s diverse artwork.

What is the Online Illustration Exhibition?

The Online Illustration Exhibition, taking place between August 10th and October 22nd, lets fans get a closer look at the artwork of their favourite cards. You can also get to learn more about the art of the Pokemon TCG, with 50 artists commenting on their pieces and sharing the inspiration behind them.

The exhibition is broken down into three distinct themes – Life, History, and Artist. ‘Life’ looks into the habitats and routines of different Pokemon depicted in card art. ‘History’ delves into the past and covers events spanning the last 25 years, and ‘Artist’ shares the thoughts of the Pokemon TCG’s most popular artists, including Megumi Mizutani, Akira Egawa, and many others.
