McDonald’s 2022 Pokemon TCG has begun in the US!

The Pokemon TCG Mcdonald’s 2022 promotion has begun in the US, which follows the UK launch last week. This campaign will launch on August 16th and will have fewer cards to collect than last year’s set. This comes after the UK release on August 2nd and the release in Canada on August 9th.

The McDonald’s 2022 set is smaller than last year’s, with there being 15 cards to collect in total. Six of the cards will always be the foil version (no common versions available), with the other nine always being commons (no foil versions available). Offering a more simple and easier set to collect may be in a bid to reduce scalping, which was a major problem for the campaign last year.

Like last year, each booster pack will contain four cards, with one guaranteed to be a foil. The Pokemon TCG 2022 Mcdonald’s promotion has changed somewhat, as those buying Happy Meals will also get a cardboard TCG coin, with the design rotating from week to week, and a collectable spinner toy that will be completely different each week of the promotion.

Just like last year, the booster packs will come in an envelope and sealed in paper packets. Last year, the cards inside the packs could be identified by shining a torch through them, which made reselling the packs less desirable for those looking for the more sought-after cards of the promotion, such as Pikachu.
