A Pokemon TCG Snap Pikachu card has appeared on sale in Japan for 34,000,000 Yen (roughly $265,000).
Yahoo! Japan Auctions have one of the most exclusive items in Pokémon TCG currently on sale with around 2 days left to go. Due to their distribution finding one for sale, let alone in near-mint condition, is almost impossible.
The Pokémon Snap promo cards were released in 1999 in conjunction with Pokémon Snap for Nintendo 64 and were distributed as a “Best Photo” competition for Japanese magazine CoroCoro – The prize for the ten winners: 20 Pokémon cards of their winning image.
Throughout the years, more information has surfaced surrounding these cards. That being said, Ludkins Collectables has been very vocal about the journey towards having these elusive Pokemon Snap contest cards acknowledged by grading companies like PSA. Up until September 2019, PSA refused to grade the Charmander, Squirtle, and Articuno cards from the contest due to contradictions between the physical cards and an official image in “The Silver Bible”, a Japanese Pokemon TCG art book from 2000. Last year, we saw a Charmander Snap promo sell for roughly $75,000 in near-mint condition on Yahoo! Japan Auctions as well as YouTuber Maxmoefoe reveal his PSA 8 Snap Gyarados in a video that has been seen nearly 700,000 times.
In January 2022, the first ever Snap Magikarp appeared for sale and was purchased by high-end collector @dubsycollection for a whopping $135,000.
The opportunity at owning one of these cards cannot go amiss for serious high-end collectors. The auction can be found here
Do you think this Pokemon TCG Snap Pikachu will sell for the staggering asking price?
