The Pokémon Company has won Game of the Year for TCG Battle Academy at the 2021 Toy of the Year Awards.
The Pokémon Trading Card Game Battle Academy took home the prize from the 2021 iteration of TOTY, known as the “Oscars” of the toy industry.
The annual event celebrates the best in toy and game manufacturing and streamed via a live stream ceremony. The TCG Battle Academy is the first-ever board game iteration of Pokémon TCG and allows for newcomers to the hobby to learn the ropes as they battle with pre-made decks.
This is an amazing announcement that highlights that playing the TCG is stronger than ever despite the lack of tournaments and events due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The Pokémon TCG website provides all the information you need surrounding the product and is a great opportunity for many new collectors to the hobby to give the playing side a bash.
Another massive benefit is the lack of collectable aspects to the board-game, meaning the product has widespread available across Amazon, eBay and beyond.
For many returning to the hobby or wanting to get your children involved, this Game of the Year award may be the push you need to give playing the TCG a try.
