The Pokémon Company has delayed the release of Pokémon TCG: Sword & Shield Ultra Premium Collection to March.
Initially due for release this month in the U.K and in November in North America, the Zacian and Zamazenta Ultra Premium Collection boxes will now officially release on 5 March 2021.
The Ultra Premium Collection boxes look to be a very collectible piece with a beautiful gold display box housing special gold promos variants of Zacian V and Zamazenta V alongside 16 Pokémon TCG booster packs celebrating the Sword & Shield Series.
This collector’s piece had been highly sought after due to being the first of its kind as a homage to the last year of Pokémon TCG.
This begs the question, due to COVID-19 will be start to see further delays with product releases or is this delay a one off?
Charlie Hurlocker, Director of US operations for Ludkins Collectables, had warned of the potential impact of COVID-19 on turnaround times in 2021, could this relate to releases as well?
He stated, “I feel like The Pokemon 25th anniversary will be largely overshadowed by coronavirus”. Whilst this isn’t necessarily Pokemon’s 25th anniversary launch, is this a sign of what’s to come?
The release will now fall in line with the Pokémon 25th Anniversary First Partner Packs from the Galar region which include jumbo variants of Grooky, Scorbunny, and Sobble as well as two regular booster packs.
The Ultra Premium Collection is currently sold out for preorder on most retailers, expect to see more stock closer to the release in March.
