Worlds 2022 Pokemon Center hit with chaos queues

A few weeks back, the Pokemon Company announced the Pokemon Center reservation system for Worlds 2022, which would help keep queues in order and give all fans the best possible experience. Unfortunately, things didn’t go to plan on the first day of the Pokemon Center pop-up, which resulted in people being stuck in lengthy queues that barely moved. This issue was allegedly down to the appointment system crashing, which resulted in staff telling visitors to stay in the queue regardless of their previously appointed time.

Angry visitors went to Twitter to vent their frustrations, with one Tweeting – “The Pokémon center has been one of the most poorly managed things I’ve ever seen.  Nobody has the right information and we’ve been told different things by different people”. Others have praised the Pokemon Center staff for doing their best and trying to come up with solutions to get people through the 2022 Pokemon Center as quick as they could.

Another factor that may have contributed to the lengthy queues at the Pokemon Center was that some visitors were taking too long inside the store, despite having a 10-minute window to shop. Reportedly, the issue was eventually rectified with the ‘Virtual Queue’ being scrapped for the time being. It is unknown whether the alternative way to shop will be reinstated for the following days of the Pokemon World Championships. Despite teething problems with the reservation system, it seems that things are running more smoothly today.
