The Xros Encounter set will offer up a new and incredibly unique way to Digivolve in the upcoming booster, with the fusion (DigiXros) mechanic being implemented for the first time. Among the new Digimon debuting with this set is the new version of Greymon, which is also known as Greymon (2010), as well as the Decker cards that use Greymon and MetalGreymon in their fusion Digivolutions.
Disclaimer: The cards included in this article are the only ones that have been revealed so far for this archetype. It is possible that more will be revealed in the coming months.
In the Digimon Fusion (Xros Wars) anime, Greymon is incredibly loyal to its Tamer, Christopher Aonuma. MailBirdramon will allow you to recycle a MetalGreymon from your trash if you have a Christopher Aonuma in play, and if you don’t, you get to play the Tamer for free from your hand. This will help you get your MetalGreymon out faster, by using the MailBirdramon and a Greymon for a DigiXros (fusion). Speaking of Greymon – this card has a fantastic search ability for two cards with the ‘Blue Flare’ trait from the top 4 cards from your deck, which is ideal as all the Digimon in this archetype have this trait. Greymon also lets you recycle a MetalGreymon from your trash if Christopher Aonuma is in play. When MetalGreymon is played this way, it stops your opponent from blocking or attacking until the end of their next turn, which is a great way to slow your opponent down.
Deckerdramon is another Digimon that can be used with MetalGreymon to reduce its play cost via a DigiXros (fusion) into DeckerGreymon. Deckerdramon lets you replenish your hand by drawing as many Digimon your opponent has in play and will increase your DeckerGreymon’s DP by +1000. DeckerGreymon will let you add a Blue Flare card to the bottom of this Digimon’s Digivolution pile, which could add another handy Inherited effect to the Digimon, and will prevent your opponent from attacking or blocking until the end of their turn.
When it comes to the Option cards of this set, Blazing Memory Boost! Is the only one specifically tailored to the chain, while Plasma Decker Launcher is more versatile, Blazing Memory Boost allows you to search out and keep 2 cards from the top 6 cards of your deck, as well as play a Christopher Aonuma Tamer for free. Like other Memory Boost! Cards, this one has the ‘Delay’ keyword, allowing you to gain 2 memory at a time that best suits you. Plasma Decker Launcher can be played for a reduced cost of 2 if your opponent has 2 or more Digimon in play, which will knock it down to a 5 cost play. When played or attacked in Security, this card can help clear the field by sending one of your opponent’s level 6 Digimon back to their hand.
Xros Encounter will be the 10th main booster set of the Digimon card game and will focus on the Digimon Fusion series, which was known as Xros Wars in Japan. Not only will several Digimon make their debut for the first time, but the brand new DigiXros (fusion) mechanic will shake things up as an alternative way to get your strongest Digimon in play.
